1947: Frank Mello begins operation in Sacramento as Northern Milk Lines, hauling milk in 10-gallon cans from dairies to creameries.

1970: Northern Milk Lines begins a transition from hauling bulk milk in tankers to transporting frozen, chilled and dry food products in refrigerated trailers. From the beginning, multiple drops and LTL service have been a specialty.

1974: With the transition complete, the company's name becomes Northern Refrigerated Transportation.

1985:Northern Refrigerated Transportation, or NRT as we are also known, opens a terminal in southern California.

1993: NRT offers LTL and truckload services to and from Northern Nevada.

1998: NRT's state-of-the-art fleet consists of 130 power units and 160 refrigerated 48- and 50-foot trailers. Progressive management, a computerized dispatching network, and truck terminals in northern and southern California make NRT one of the largest and most efficient refrigerated carriers in the state.

1999: Construction is completed on our new Terminal and Corporate office in Turlock, CA. The 18 acre facility houses our office, maintenance shop, and 25,000 square foot loading dock. The purchase of the 22 acre parcel next door ensures that this facility will have the room to meet our customers’ needs for a long time to come.

2003: Our Southern California Terminal relocates to the City of Commerce and begins offering expanded services to our customers in the region through our increased size and refrigerated warehouse facilities.

2004: NRT purchases Gary Olson Trucking and expands operations in the Pacific Northwest.

2006: NRT opens a facility near Portland, OR to offer our customers the flexibility of a local Northwest operation with consolidation and distribution capabilities and the ability to handle deliveries between Oregon and Washington in a more timely manner.

2006: NRT's fleet expands to over 200+ power units dispatched from 3 terminals strategically aligned along the west coast to allow superb coverage of the 5 western states.
